July 31, 2020

If you’ve been keeping up with our monthly Hancock Health Challenges, you’re cruising to better living. You’re another month into making healthier habits a regular part of your life. Now let’s continue to build on the self-care and positive choices that have gotten you this far as we Live Healthy through August.

From basic hygiene and healthy eating to preventive health and lifelong learning, August is all about the long view. Making the little, healthy choices each day can add up to a big reward for your body and your spirit over time.

As always, we want to see pictures of you living healthy out there in the world. When you complete a Live Healthy Challenge, post a picture or video of your experience on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter with the hashtag #HancockHealthChallenge.

Here are the August challenges. Good luck!

Week 1: A natural start

There’s nothing lacking in a vegetarian meal. Substitute one of our delicious vegetarian dinner ideas for a weeknight meal full of flavor (and, sure, nutrition). From tasty tacos to simple, one-pot meals, we have something the whole family is going to want to try.

Week 2: Understand your risks

We’re here to talk anytime you’re concerned you might need care. But there are many things you can do to stay on top of your health and wellness between doctor’s visits. During the second week of August, we’re challenging you to set aside a few minutes to complete these simple risk assessments. Enjoy peace of mind of knowing where you stand with respect to heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and other common conditions.

Week 3: Stay sharp

With the right outlook, even an old dog can learn new tricks; in fact, we know more than a few of them. Learning is a lifelong journey. Dust off that old guitar that’s been sitting on your shelf to strum a few new chords or reduce stress while getting lost in a novel. Acquire a new skill with these suggestions for lifelong learning.

Week 4: Keep smiling

A foundation of great oral hygiene leads to better health across the board. Studies show a connection between oral health and diabetes, cancer, and other serious diseases. Commit to keeping your gums and teeth healthy with daily flossing, avoiding tobacco, and other routines to keep your mouth happy.

Remember to show us your stuff! And download one of our new Live Healthy Challenge desktop wallpapers to remind you of living healthy all month long.
