Hancock Health and the Hancock Health Foundation offers opportunities to support our associates in times of need and to recognize them for their excellent work.
Recognizing a Care Provider
Hancock Health encourages our patients and community members to join us in recognizing the hardwork and dedication of our talented associates with the DAISY Award and the PETAL Award.
DAISY Award
The DAISY Award was established by The DAISY Foundation in memory of J. Patrick Barnes who died at 33 of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura, an autoimmune disease. The Barnes Family was so grateful for the clinical skills, quick-thinking, and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick they created the international DAISY award to thank nurses everywhere.
PETAL Award
The PETAL Award is Hancock Health’s complement to the DAISY Award, recognizing associates who are in non-nursing roles. We pride ourselves on living our values everyday, but when our associates go above and beyond to provide patients and visitors with world-class care and compassion, it should be recognized.
All award nominees receive a printed copy of their nomination along with a pin to commemorate their recognition. Each quarter, a special honoree is chosen from the nominations received and given a beautiful acrylic award.

Supporting Our Team
Hancock Health Foundation’s Associate Crisis Fund (ACF) provides financial assistance to Hancock Health associates experiencing personal hardship. The ACF has helped over 230 associates since it launched in 2005. Please review the FAQs below before filling out an application, which must be submitted to the Foundation office. If you have additional questions please call (317) 468-4106.
Where do the funds come from?
The ACF is supported by donations from associates through LIFT (Let’s Invest for Tomorrow)—the Hancock Health Foundation associate giving club. 50% of each payroll donation from Hancock Health associates is set aside for the ACF.
Who can apply?
Any current full or part time Hancock Health associate who has completed their probation period, is not on a corrective action plan, and has experienced an unanticipated financial hardship is eligible to apply and may receive assistance once per calendar year. Associates cannot receive assistance for more than three consecutive years.
How do I apply?
The application form is available for download here. You may also reach out to the Foundation for an application. Return the completed application to the Foundation office or email it to asmith@hancockregional.org. Each request is carefully reviewed by a committee, and an in-person meeting may be requested.
Can I help?
YES. Join LIFT through a payroll deduction and 50% of your pledge or gift will support the Associate Crisis Fund. Any single donation is gratefully accepted and tax-deductible.

Bobby Keen and Bert Curry Healthy Community Awards
Each year, Hancock Health Foundation recognizes a local organization and an individual whose service efforts have created positive change in the health and wellness of our local communities. The foundation Awards and Scholarships committee receives nominations and annually selects at least one recipient to receive each award.
Nominations for 2022 are due on November 30th. The winners will be announced at the foundation’s year-end holiday celebration. To nominate an individual or organization for these awards, download the nomination form.
