Pre-Operative Clinic
Hancock Health’s pre-op clinic team is dedicated to helping surgical patients know what to expect before, during, and after surgery. They see all of our patients before surgery to ensure that they have answers and are prepared for their procedures.
Preparing for Surgery
If surgery becomes part of your healthcare journey, our pre-op team will help you prepare for your procedure and understand what you can expect. We’ll talk with you about preparation, like fasting and which medications to take (or not take). We can also make recommendations on exercises to do prior to surgery to make recovery easier for you. Working together, we’ll create a plan for the days leading up to your surgery and the day-of, to ensure the experience goes as smoothly as possible.
Recovering From Surgery
We will work alongside your care team and surgeon to help you have a speedy, easy-going recovery, whether it’s onsite at Hancock Regional Hospital or in the comfort of your home. Speak with our pre-op team to understand which adjustments to your daily routine might be necessary following the procedure. This could include creating clear walkways within your home, preparing meals ahead of time, and other recommendations pertaining to physical activities. Recovery times for surgical procedures can vary greatly depending on the type of surgery and the individual receiving treatment.
Rehabilitation
In some cases, patients need rehabilitation services to get back to full strength or deal with new physical conditions. Hancock Health is here to help. We offer a comprehensive range of expert rehabilitation services for children and adults at locations across Hancock County—including our patients’ homes.
