Breast Health
Breast health is an important component of women’s health care. As a Mayo Clinic Care Network member, our doctors can consult with the world leader in medicine on diagnosis or treatment.
Preventative Care & Screenings
Whether it’s time for your regular mammogram or you’ve been referred for a breast MRI, Hancock Health is your resource for preventative care. If you have a family history of breast cancer, our genetic testing can help you assess the risk of developing the disease yourself—keeping you informed and prepared on your health.
Visit the Women’s Clinic
Our Women’s Clinic serves at-risk uninsured or underinsured women who meet income guidelines through various programs and services. The clinic provides a variety of essential services, including:
- Mammograms
- Breast and pelvic ultrasounds
- Breast MRIs and biopsies
The clinic operates on a part-time basis and is staffed by an experienced nurse practitioner and clinic coordinator, both overseen by a gynecologist. The clinic is open to all women, both insured and uninsured. For appointments, please call (317) 468-4641.
The Women’s Clinic is made possible through the Hancock Health Foundation’s Women Helping Women Program and funding from the Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust. Additional funding is from private donations and the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program sponsored by the Indiana State Department of Health.
Surgical Options
Our world-class surgeons are experienced at providing both cosmetic and medical procedures for strong breast health, including:
- Breast Augmentation, to increase breast size
- Breast Lift
- Breast Reconstruction, typically after mastectomy or lumpectomy
- Breast Expander Insertion, to aid in breast reconstruction after mastectomy
- Breast Reduction
- Capsulectomy, to remove thick tissue around breast implants
- Breast Implant Exchange or Removal
- Latissimus Dorsi Flap Reconstruction, to repair a back muscle after breast surgery
- Superior Gluteal Artery Perforator (SGAP) Flap, which transplants tissue from the buttocks to reconstruct the breast following mastectomy

Please note that because breast augmentation is typically elective cosmetic surgery, Medicare will usually not cover it unless the surgery has been deemed medically necessary. To learn more about payment options, please visit our billing and insurance page.
