Physician Bio

Dr. Bilal Gondal, MD, MRCSI is a renowned gastroenterologist and internist with Hancock Health. Prior to joining Hancock Health, he worked at Carle Foundation Hospital Urbana, an affiliate of the University of Illinois, a highly rated and top awarded hospital for gastroenterology. He received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences and was awarded Summa Cum Laude from the University of Melbourne, Australia and completed his MB, BCh, BAO Bachelor of Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics from Trinity College Dublin, a sister college of Cambridge and Oxford London, as well as a post-grad surgical fellowship and MRCSI credentials from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). Dr. Gondal received his medicine residency from The University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed his gastroenterology specialist training/fellowship at one of the largest gastroenterology centers, The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.

He has been very active academically and clinically with published articles, chapters and abstracts in industry journals with high impact factors, and also has a successful US patent in the area of colon cancer screening research tools. He also has an active presence online in medical research from Google scholar reaching 600 paper citations, to academia and ResearchGate with over 17000 reads of his published articles.  

Although highly dedicated to his field, Dr. Gondal also enjoys spending his free time outdoors doing fun activities with his family and kids, including sports, state park visits and building Legos.
