We’re Sporting a Few New Doctors at Hancock Health

January 1, 2024

If you’ve been to Hancock Health’s campus recently, you might have noticed a few new faces around the building. We’re very pleased to welcome several new doctors and staff to Hancock Health, and today we’re excited to get to know Dr. Steve Shively, DO, a sports medicine surgeon who’s making health possible for patients every day.

Dr. Shively has a pretty full schedule every day.

“A typical clinic day for me is primarily full of shoulder and knee pain patients, with a variety of other muscular skeletal issues,” said Dr. Shively. “There are also post-operative patients who come back for follow-ups. On surgery days, I meet with patients and their families prior to their procedures before doing the surgery itself.”

For Dr. Shively, taking care of athletes is personal—he knows all too well how important it is to get back in the game after an injury.

“I was an athlete in my younger days, and I played Division I soccer at Valparaiso University in college,” said Dr. Shively. “I’m extremely proud to provide sports medicine care in the Hancock Health Network.”

“I try to speak to patients plainly and clearly, and I do my best to put myself in their shoes,” said Dr. Shively. “I love being able to provide definitive answers and solutions for patients, and I’m looking forward to seeing the athletes I’ve operated on get back to the sport they love.”
