Hancock Regional Hospital Nationally Recognized

GREENFIELD, IND. (May 13, 2021) — Hancock Regional Hospital received an “A” grade from Leapfrog Hospital Safety in the national organization’s Spring 2022 rankings. Leapfrog Hospital Safety bestowed this national recognition that highlights Hancock Health’s achievement in protecting patients from sickness, harm, or error while in the hospital’s care. This is the fourth consecutive time Hancock Regional Hospital has received this recognition, after earning an “A” grade in Fall 2020, Spring 2021, and Fall 2021

The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than thirty national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. 

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

Hancock Regional Hospital was also recognized as the safest hospital in Indiana by the Lown Institute Hospitals Index in 2021. The Lown Institute also awarded “A” grades in patient satisfaction and pay equity.
