When you’re cooking with the seasons, winter means root vegetables and dried and canned goods—and there’s nothing wrong with a pot of chili or nice turnip-and-rutabaga gratin to get you through a cold February dinner.
But thank goodness for spring and all those delicious, fresh, green vegetables: peas, asparagus, spinach, lettuce, and so many others. Or maybe you’re more of a forager and ramps, watercress, and fiddlehead ferns are your thing.
And that’s exactly what we’d like to know: When it comes to spring vegetables, what’s your thing? It’s the HealthPossible Spring Veggie Recipe Contest, and we’re excited to find out! Here’s how it works:
- Send your recipe to info@hancockregional.org by June 30th. Your recipe must incorporate at least one fresh vegetable grown locally and available during the spring.
- The staff of HealthPossible.org will choose the top three dishes and prepare them according to your recipe—then have a head-to-head-to-head taste test.
- We’ll announce the winner on July 9th.
And you’ll want to win—because our winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the Hancock County Farmers Market at the Fairgrounds.
So snap those peas! Snip that asparagus! Send us the best of the new season. We can’t wait to tuck in!
