Dandelion Flower Cookies

Who doesn’t love cookies? But you might be surprised by the star of these sweet treats…dandelions! Once you have harvested some dandelions, wash them thoroughly and pinch out all of the little yellow petals. Then follow the recipe below!

What you need:

  1. Have a grownup preheat the oven to 375 degrees
  2. Blend oil and honey. Then beat in eggs and vanilla.
  3. Stir in flour, oatmeal and dandelion flowers.
  4. Drop the batter by teaspoonfuls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 10-15 minutes.

Flower Crowns for Summer Solstice

Remember how the ancient Celts used dandelions as a symbol of the sun? The summer solstice is the time of year when we have the MOST sunlight and the perfect time to create a beautiful flower crown using these bright yellow flowers.

Here is what you need:

  1. Create a wire circle the circumference of your head. Depending on the thickness of the wire, you may want to wrap it around twice. Secure it by twisting the ends together.
  2. Using floral tape, secure the flowers to your crown. Try your best to fill in all the empty spaces!
  3. Wear your crown as a symbol of the sun and summer!

Dandelion Shape Boards

While this is an easy craft to do, the sky is the limit. Use your creativity to come up with funny characters and shapes that have dandelions as hair, sweaters, a mane for a lion and more!

All you need for this project is some cardboard, a screw driver or other sharp tool for poking holes and a field full of dandelions.

First, cut the cardboard into whatever shape you would like to use and use markers to create features, patterns and more. Then, add holes where you would like to stick dandelions. For example, you can cut out a big oval and draw the face of a lion in the center. Then, you can poke holes all around it where a mane would go.

Now, head out into the open and pick some dandelions to fill the holes. It’s as easy as that! This might be a really fun craft to do with friends or younger siblings. How many shapes and faces can YOU make?
