Let’s be honest: Being a new mom can definitely be scary. Right there alongside all the excitement and eagerness you feel about welcoming a new family member into your life, you might also be feeling nervous, apprehensive, and even intimidated by what’s to come. But while babies don’t come with instruction manuals, Hancock Health—just in time for National Breastfeeding Month—has lots of classes to help you prep for motherhood.
Keeping It Classy
Nervous about being a new mom? Hancock Health’s classes on childcare and childbirth preparation can ease your mind, making sure you’re prepared when your little bundle of joy makes their grand entrance. Oh, and our classes are free of charge, too.
Childbirth Preparation Class: Every other month, we offer a childbirth prep class where you’ll learn the ins and outs of what childbirth is like, how to prepare for it, when to seek medical intervention, and so much more. There will be plenty of time to ask questions, and you’ll feel much better about going into the delivery room once you’ve taken this class.
Breastfeeding Class: This free course will help teach you everything you need to know about breastfeeding. The class is taught by certified lactation nurses, so you’ll be getting the most accurate, up-to-date tips and tricks for how to nourish your baby.
Newborn Care and Safety Class: If you’re feeling pretty good about all the stuff leading up to having your baby, but you’re nervous about what to do once the baby actually arrives, then this class is for you. You’ll learn about newborn CPR, state-required testing and vaccinations, and more.
Car Seat Program: When your little one is old enough for a car seat, you can get enrolled in our free car seat safety program. You’ll have a one-on-one session with one of our certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs), who will check your child’s current car seat for recalls and suggest safety measures. If necessary, they can even help guide you through the purchase of a new seat.
