Summer Lovin’, Had Me a Blast

June 27, 2022

It’s time to talk about dating again. Dating can be fun, but it isn’t always a walk in the park. This summer, why not try something new?

Everyone knows about the coffee date. It is such a safe bet. But, sometimes, no matter how good the conversation is, coffee can feel boring and predictable. Yes, it is nice on a chilly autumn morning, but the summer sun is calling you to get outside and do something new and exciting!

One of the best pieces of dating advice we have heard is to try something new to both of you. That way, you are both enjoying the fun of learning something for the first time. Not only can this create a bonding experience, but you will most certainly get a laugh out of it. And, who knows, you may find a new hobby and your soulmate as well!

Show your spicy side

Ever wanted to take a cooking class? Now is the time. Date night cooking classes range widely from location to location. Our favorites? If you don’t mind the drive into Indianapolis, check out Chef JJ’s Downtown. There, you can learn the art of preparing delicious food AND you get the added benefit of eating afterward. If you love Asian food, check out Katsumi’s Teaching Kitchen, also located in Indianapolis. Honey Be Cookin’, located in Carmel, is another great option for date nights and boasts both beginner and intermediate sessions.

Spin the wheel

If you are looking to get crafty together, head over to the uPaint Pottery Studio in Greenfield. It’s loads of fun to pick and paint your favorite stoneware to match your personality. For an even messier date (a la “Ghost”), head to Beech Grove Clay Works. You can learn to throw your own pots at one of their events or take a class together.

Couples who play together…

Do you like being active? Show off your physical side on your next date by throwing down in a game of horse at the nearest basketball court. Or take a walk together through downtown Greenfield. Bowling is another fun idea and one that you can enjoy even on a rainy afternoon or evening. If you both played sports in college, give ballroom dancing a spin for something completely different.

Go extreme

If you’re up for some extreme getting-to-know-you fun, try out the Go Ape Adventure Park in Eagle Creek! Wear a harness and guide each other along the ropes course. Or, if flying is your thing, test your bravery on the zipline. If you’re a riddle junkie, head to one of the many escape rooms popping up around the greater Indianapolis area. Or, for the most extreme thrill seeker, Sky Dive Indy is waiting for you and your date!

Totally out there

If you’re both really adventurous, Indy has some serious offerings for you. How about ax throwing? Immersive, comedic murder mystery dinner theater? Maybe trampolines or parkour is more your speed. Or perhaps you’d like to test if your childhood go-kart championship still holds. How about a walk through some creepy catacombs? Or watch the ladies battle it out on skates? Or other skates? Sky’s the limit in central Indiana!

No matter what you choose, the goal is fun. Don’t be afraid to try something out of your comfort zone. It might end up being a great bonding experience and one that will have you gearing up for many future dates!
