Carnegie’s is located in a historic Carnegie Library building, one of nearly 1,700 funded by Andrew Carnegie and built in the U.S. between 1883 and 1929. The restaurant features seasonal fare, hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, and local vegetables, including vegetarian and vegan options as well as gluten-free dishes. FoxGardin Kitchen & Ale

21 and over

215 South Main Street, Fortville, Indiana 46040

(317) 485-4085

Launched in 2015, FoxGardin Kitchen & Ale features the elevated comfort food that chef Jake Burgess wanted to serve when he opened this gastropub as his first eatery. This Fortville standout serves lunch and dinner, offering local beers, a select wine list, top-shelf cocktails, and a unique menu that ranges from soups and sandwiches to comfort food entrees and vegetarian fare. Ask about Burgess’ mother’s signature butter pie, a gooey treat that marries graham-cracker crust with cream cheese filling. Sit in the back and enjoy a quiet meal, take a seat in the whiskey lounge, dine on the covered patio, or head to the rooftop patio for a great view of the city. Takeout or make a reservation. FoxGardin also caters events, offers private dining rooms, and runs a food truck.

Griggsby’s Station

21 and over

101 West Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140

(317) 477-7217

Established in 2016 and open Monday through Saturday for dinner, Griggsby’s Station focuses on sustainable, seasonal ingredients, including local meats and produce. Even the look of the restaurant comes from the work of local craftspeople. Owner Chris Baggott named Griggsby’s after a poem by Greenfield native James Whitcomb Riley, who lived just down the street. The menu is inspired by Baggott’s vision to offer food without added hormones, antibiotics, or GMOs. This gastropub serves appetizers, steaks, pork chops, sandwiches, burgers with traditional and untraditional toppings—including pasture-raised meats—inventive cocktails, and a refreshing wine list. Griggsby’s also welcomes private parties.
