How We’re Keeping You Safe When You Visit Us

May 18, 2020
At Hancock Health, helping you make health possible means everything to us. As we continue to navigate the coronavirus pandemic, it’s understandable that you might be concerned about your safety when you need health care.

We know it’s been a challenging time, but great health care is the last thing you need to fear. So, we’ve taken all kinds of steps to make sure you’re protected when you’re interacting with us. Here are answers to a few questions you might have about how we’re keeping our patients safe.

Will you be at risk of exposure to COVID-19?

Hancock Health’s COVID-19 units are separated from the rest of our operations. We maintain dedicated COVID-19 facilities for testing, diagnosis, and treatment.

What happens when you arrive at an appointment?

When you arrive at Hancock Regional Hospital, a Hancock associate will greet you, check you in, provide a mask and take you to your appointment.

What about sanitization and social distancing?

Sanitization has always been a priority at Hancock Health, and never more so than now. We’re working overtime to make sure we’re following the best practices, sanitizing exam rooms between each patient visit and other common areas regularly.

As for social distancing, Hancock Health will continue to follow the guidelines put in place by Governor Holcomb and the Indiana State Department of Health. You will continue to see empty or almost empty waiting rooms at Hancock Health facilities, as we continue to add time between patients to sanitize and maintain best practices to ensure your health and safety.

Who do you call when you need care?

If you need routine care, call your Hancock primary care physician. We’re scheduling virtual and in-person visits right now.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, or you’re concerned you’ve contracted the virus, call the Hancock Coronavirus Hotline: 317-325-COVD (2683).

If you need to find out about an appointment at Hancock Regional Hospital, call the Hancock Welcome Line at 317-462-5544.

And if you need emergency care, don’t wait. Here’s a list of good reasons to call 911 or the Hancock Regional Hospital ER now. We’re prepared to treat you immediately, without exposing you to COVID-19.

Can I still schedule a virtual visit?

Virtual visits will continue to be a service provided to Hancock patients going forward. To schedule a virtual visit, contact your doctor’s office directly. We’ll advise you on whether you should come see us in person, or if a virtual visit via your computer, tablet, or smartphone will work.

Don’t wait to get the care you need

Your healthcare needs didn’t all go away when the COVID-19 pandemic struck—and Hancock Health has worked hard to adapt to this changing situation without compromising the quality care you expect and deserve. We’re dedicated to being here for you and making health possible—today, tomorrow, and for many years to come.
