The CuddleCot was made possible through a donation by the Cook family, who lost their newborn son, Levi Benjamin. Because of the special bond they have with other families who suffer such a tremendous loss during a time when most experience such happiness, they chose to give back in a very unique and special way.
“After the loss of a child, families must live a lifetime of memories in just a few days or moments,” said Theresa Lueder, Director of Hancock Women+Children. “We hope this CuddleCot will be a blessing to the parents faced with the heartache of losing a child to stillbirth or shortly after birth. We are honored we were chosen us to help honor Levi in this way.”
Staff at Hancock Regional Hospital said they are grateful for the donation and without a CuddleCot, the staff must keep moving the baby back and forth from the mother’s room. “Being able to keep the baby in the room with the parents, even when they sleep, and just knowing that their baby hasn’t been taken from them is so important emotionally,” Lueder said.
He Knows Your Name works closely with families in helping them organize and raise funds to purchase CuddleCots for area hospitals. “It is an honor to be able to resource and equip Hancock Health today, as they will be better able to assist in the healing and grieving process of families,” said Linda Znachko, founder of He Knows Your Name Ministry.
