HANCOCK HEALTH APPOINTS NEW CEO OF HANCOCK PHYSICIAN NETWORK

May 7, 2018
Greenfield, IN – May 7, 2018 – Hancock Health, an Indiana-based, full-service healthcare network serving Hancock County and the surrounding areas, has announced the appointment of Rob Matt as their new CEO of Hancock Physician Network. He assumed responsibilities on February 8 and is the successor to Bill Barteau who provided exceptional leadership for 11 years prior to his departure in late 2017.

“Rob will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Hancock Physician Network team,” said Steve Long, President and CEO of Hancock Health. “With Rob as our choice, we have the history and consistency to continue what we have started with Hancock Physician Network. While serving on the executive team, he has been intimately involved from a strategic Hancock Health level since the inception in 1998 of Hancock Physician Network.”

Rob has been part of the Hancock family since 1998 when he was a hospital board member (including chairman) and then joined the hospital leadership team as vice president in 2003. Rob was instrumental in expanding Hancock’s reach with the addition of the Hancock Surgery Center, the expansion of our home medical equipment footprint, the long-term acute care hospital within Hancock Regional, the Jane Pauley Center, the community-based employer clinics, and the creation of our Suburban Home Health company. Rob will continue in his role as Senior Vice President, Strategy for Hancock Health.

“ I am delighted to have the chance to work with the Hancock Physician network team,” said Rob Matt. “When the Physician Network and Hospital teams work closely together we will deliver high-quality, efficient care for all patients. The Physician Network folks that I have met have been welcoming, warm and are eager to continue the great work that has gone on in the past and envision a new progressive future. I am looking forward to the challenge and excited about the opportunity.”

Before coming to Hancock Regional Hospital, Rob had various leadership roles with Union Carbide Corporation and Avery Dennison which is what brought him to Greenfield, Indiana. Rob received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University (GO HOOSIERS!), is a fellow in the College of Healthcare Executives and proudly served for six years in U.S. Coast Guard. Rob is married to Marsha and has two daughters and two grandsons.
