  1. Schedule an appointment with your primary care physician.
  2. Get routinely screened for chronic disease risk factors, including high blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol.
  3. As needed, talk with your doctor about making lifestyle changes.
  4. Schedule follow-up visits as your doctor recommends.

“Preventive health starts with the fundamentals—diet and exercise,” Dr. Seshan says. “Make these elements a daily priority and talk with your physician to establish your health baseline through routine screenings.”
