For most of us, cataracts are just a natural part of the aging process. If we live long enough, most of us will eventually develop cataracts. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Certain conditions and medicines may cause or accelerate cataracts as well. Eye trauma, diabetes, and genetics may cause cataracts to form at younger ages. For diabetic patients, it is important to keep their blood sugar under good control to avoid accelerating the development of cataracts. Steroids (Prednisone\/cortisone) that patients might take for asthma, arthritis, or autoimmune diseases can also cause a particular type of cataract to form sooner in some people.<\/p>\n<\/div>
