Hancock Regional Hospital\u2019s new partnership with the Peyton Manning Children\u2019s Hospital at St. Vincent brings the expertise of the state\u2019s largest neonatal intensive care unit closer to home, creating more peace of mind for our delivering families.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

The partnership, which began late last year, creates a Level II Special Care Nursery at Hancock Regional. The new nursery is specially equipped for moderately ill infants and babies born as early as 32 weeks of gestation. It enables Hancock Regional to care for infants who need oxygen, IV fluids or medications, help with feeding, or just some extra care or supervision before going home.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n

Peyton Manning Children\u2019s Hospital neonatal nurse practitioners are also on-site at Hancock Regional, and the nurse practitioners have constant access to the children\u2019s hospital\u2019s neonatologists.<\/p>\n<\/div>

\n\n<\/div>
\n

Keeping our partnership in mind, here\u2019s a list of 10 fun and fascinating things you might not know about the Peyton Manning Children\u2019s Hospital.<\/p>\n<\/div>

  1. Even though Manning and his wife, Ashley, have lived in Denver since 2012, Manning still visits the hospital and also connects with patients<\/a> by making phone calls and videos.<\/li>
  2. Next year, in 2023, the hospital will celebrate its 20th anniversary. <\/li>
  3. The hospital is staffed by more than 100 experienced pediatric specialists along with pediatric nurses, child life specialists, chaplains, and other health professionals. <\/li>
  4. There\u2019s art therapy. The art therapists at Peyton Manning Children\u2019s Hospital are specifically trained in art, counseling, and psychology. <\/li>
  5. The Mannings serve as honorary chairs for the annual Celebration of Caring Gala, which has raised over $14 million for the hospital. Peyton usually secures a top country artist for the event\u2014Kenny Chesney and Thomas Rhett have both been tapped.<\/li>
  6. The hospital\u2019s 97-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is the largest in the state.<\/li>
  7. Pediatric dietitians are on staff. The registered dieticians help with everything from adolescent medicine to childhood cancers. <\/li>
  8. The seeds for the Peyton Manning Children\u2019s Hospital were sown well before 2003 when the hospital opened. Manning used to regularly visit the pediatric patients at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital.<\/li>
  9. The hospital\u2019s wellness programs include a boot camp for new dads. It pairs experienced fathers with new dads, so they can discuss the role of being a father and how to handle a newborn. <\/li>
  10. The hospital currently has 48 private inpatient beds, 23 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit beds, a 17-bed dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department, and a system of outpatient specialty practices.<\/li><\/ol>\n<\/div>
