R : Bien s\u00fbr. Je travaille \u00e0 l'h\u00f4pital r\u00e9gional de Hancock depuis trois ans, m\u00eame si je sers cette communaut\u00e9 depuis douze ans maintenant. J'ai trois merveilleux enfants qui nous occupent, mon mari et moi, lorsque nous ne sommes pas au travail.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Q : \u00c0 quoi ressemble une journ\u00e9e type pour vous en tant que chirurgien plasticien ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>

R : Notre cabinet re\u00e7oit de nouveaux patients et effectue des suivis les mardis et jeudis, et nous sommes en salle d'op\u00e9ration les mercredis et vendredis. Notre sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 couvre un large \u00e9ventail de proc\u00e9dures, notamment reconstruction mammaire apr\u00e8s une mastectomie, une r\u00e9duction mammaire, une chirurgie des paupi\u00e8res ou de la main, l'ablation d'un cancer de la peau et bien plus encore.<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/div>

Dans notre clinique, nous rencontrons les patients pour les premi\u00e8res consultations en personne et nous continuons \u00e0 les accompagner tout au long de leur parcours jusqu'\u00e0 leur gu\u00e9rison compl\u00e8te apr\u00e8s la chirurgie. Nous proposons \u00e9galement des options virtuelles dans des situations sp\u00e9cifiques.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Q\u00a0:\u00a0Wow, vous \u00eates plut\u00f4t occup\u00e9, alors\u00a0! Avez-vous une partie pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9e de votre travail?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>

R\u00a0: Les changements esth\u00e9tiques et reconstructifs que nous pouvons apporter aux patients pr\u00e9sentant divers probl\u00e8mes de forme et de fonctions corporelles changent souvent la vie. C'est un privil\u00e8ge absolu de faire partie de changements aussi visibles chez mes patients. <\/p>\n<\/div>

Plusieurs de mes histoires pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9es et m\u00e9morables concernent mes patientes en reconstruction mammaire qui ont courageusement subi une chirurgie anticanc\u00e9reuse, une chimioth\u00e9rapie et une radioth\u00e9rapie. Une grande partie de ces traitements \u00e9chappent \u00e0 leur contr\u00f4le, mais lorsqu\u2019ils s\u2019adressent \u00e0 moi pour la phase de reconstruction, plusieurs options leur sont propos\u00e9es qui r\u00e9pondent \u00e0 leurs besoins et \u00e0 leurs d\u00e9sirs. Certains patients s\u2019amusent vraiment avec le processus et partagent un bon rire avec nous ! <\/p>\n<\/div>

Q : C'est incroyable ! J'imagine que vous recevez de temps en temps des patients qui sont nerveux \u00e0 l'id\u00e9e des proc\u00e9dures. Comment les mettre \u00e0 l\u2019aise ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>

R\u00a0: \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que j\u2019effectue une intervention chirurgicale, presque tous mes patients sont nerveux, surtout le jour de l\u2019op\u00e9ration. Je leur ai fait savoir que c'\u00e9tait une \u00e9motion tout \u00e0 fait normale et que nous \u00e9tions tous l\u00e0 pour prendre grand soin d'eux tout au long du processus. J'explique \u00e9galement ce que nous faisons \u00e0 chaque \u00e9tape du processus et \u00e0 quoi s'attendre, ce qui contribue \u00e0 apaiser certaines angoisses.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Q : Comment rendez-vous la sant\u00e9 possible pour vos patients ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>

R : Premi\u00e8rement, en les informant sur les options chirurgicales et non chirurgicales pour les probl\u00e8mes qu'ils rencontrent. Nous d\u00e9cidons ensuite ensemble de l\u2019option la plus s\u00fbre et la meilleure. Chez les candidats \u00e0 la chirurgie, j\u2019ai le privil\u00e8ge d\u2019apporter le changement qu\u2019ils recherchent, ce qui compte beaucoup pour moi.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Q : Y a-t-il quelque chose que vous voudriez que les gens sachent sur la chirurgie plastique ?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div>

R : La chirurgie plastique est une sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 tr\u00e8s vaste ! Cela implique bien plus que ce que la populaire t\u00e9l\u00e9-r\u00e9alit\u00e9 pr\u00e9sentera. Il existe de nombreuses proc\u00e9dures m\u00e9dicalement n\u00e9cessaires effectu\u00e9es par un chirurgien plasticien qui sont couvertes par une assurance.<\/p>\n<\/div>
