But that doesn&#8217;t happen in everyone with ovarian cancer. Having a high level of <abbr title=\"cancer antigen 125\">CA 125<\/abbr> doesn&#8217;t mean that you have ovarian cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Many other conditions can raise your <abbr title=\"cancer antigen 125\">CA 125<\/abbr> level, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Endom\u00e9triose<\/li>\n<li>Liver cirrhosis<\/li>\n<li>Menstruation<\/li>\n<li>Pelvic inflammatory disease<\/li>\n<li>Uterine fibroids<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For these reasons, health care providers don&#8217;t recommend <abbr title=\"cancer antigen 125\">CA 125<\/abbr> testing in those with an average risk of ovarian cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Providers sometimes recommend <abbr title=\"cancer antigen 125\">CA 125<\/abbr> testing if you have a high risk of ovarian cancer. But not all providers agree on this advice. Your risk might be high if the genes that increase the risk of breast and ovarian cancers run in your family.
