Il a \u00e9galement fr\u00e9quent\u00e9 l&#039;Universit\u00e9 de l&#039;Indiana pour la facult\u00e9 de m\u00e9decine et a obtenu son dipl\u00f4me de m\u00e9decine en 1995. Le Dr Capen a effectu\u00e9 son internat et sa r\u00e9sidence \u00e0 la Community H\u00f4pital d&#039;Indianapolis en 1998. Il est membre de l&#039;Indiana Academy of Family Practice, de l&#039;Indiana State Medical Association, de l&#039;American Medical Association et du Phi Beta Kappa.
