Hancock Health has proven itself to be a high-quality healthcare system, receiving awards and recognition that are unique for a local hospital. But success hasn\u2019t happened just by chance. Behind the state-of-the-art care that has become nationally ranked, lies a team of employees and providers who are passionate about taking care of people. The Hancock Health Foundation is just one way that this local hospital hopes to continue making an immense impact on the health of our community.  <\/p>\n<\/div>

What is the Hancock Health Foundation?\u00a0<\/h2>\n<\/div>

The foundation was founded in 1982 to support the advancement of healthcare and wellness throughout Hancock County. Through fundraising efforts, scholarships and volunteer opportunities, this organization is changing the lives of community members and raising the standard when it comes to critical issues such as women\u2019s healthcare, mental health and more.  <\/p>\n<\/div>

Making a huge impact<\/h3>\n<\/div>
\n\n<\/div>
\n

Because reimbursements for hospitals are decreasing while costs are on the rise, the Hancock Health Foundation has become a vital piece in bridging the gap to keep certain programs running smoothly. If you or a loved one has ever had a cancer diagnosis and visited the Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center, then you know the foundation\u2019s impact. Having a local hospital that treats you like a family member instead of a number, especially during vulnerable and life-threatening times, makes a huge difference in your journey and recovery from illness.  <\/p>\n<\/div>

Other programs that have become pillars of community care thanks to the funding received from the foundation include The Hancock Health Connection Center, The Women\u2019s Clinic, inpatient hospice and more. Allyson Smith, Executive Director of the Hancock Health Foundation, says of the Women\u2019s Clinic, \u201cI regularly hear from patients who have been served through the clinic, and they are beyond grateful to have access to the clinic and these life-saving healthcare services they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford.\u201d  <\/p>\n<\/div>

Hancock Health writes off approximately $1.5 million every month in uncompensated services for patients who don\u2019t have the financial means to pay. Creating a healthier community where everyone has access to high quality care is a dream that is coming true here in Hancock County thanks to the work of the foundation and those who have donated money to a great cause.  <\/p>\n<\/div>

With Giving Tuesday quickly approaching and more and more people looking for worthy causes to support during this season of gratitude, The Hancock Health Foundation is hoping to help community members understand its need for funds. Many local hospitals in our country are facing financial hardship. Hancock Health is passionate about remaining a local hospital that offers high quality care to our rapidly growing community.  <\/p>\n<\/div>

Smith wants residents to know that, \u201cPrograms like mental health services, addiction treatment and hospice are severely under-funded, and this is where the Foundation comes in.  We partner with generous individuals and businesses who recognize the importance of keeping our healthcare local. Thanks to these donors, we help to bridge those budget gaps and make it possible for the hospital to continue providing these important programs and services.\u201d
