{"id":14371,"date":"2020-12-23T22:56:56","date_gmt":"2020-12-24T03:56:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hancockregionalhospital.org\/?p=14371"},"modified":"2020-12-23T22:56:56","modified_gmt":"2020-12-24T03:56:56","slug":"meet-dr-neal-shah-the-newest-physician-at-hancock-internal-medicine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hancockhealth.org\/es\/2020\/12\/meet-dr-neal-shah-the-newest-physician-at-hancock-internal-medicine\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet Dr. Neal Shah, the newest physician at Hancock Internal Medicine"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">Internal medicine is a broad field, and that\u2019s just fine with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hancockhealth.org\/es\/location\/hancock-internal-medicine-1-memorial-square\/\">Greenfield office<\/a>\u2019s newest physician, Dr. Neal Shah. \u201cYou have to look at everything to make sure what you\u2019re doing is effectively treating that patient,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>After just six weeks on the job, Dr. Shah has been impressed with the atmosphere at Hancock Health. \u201cHere at Hancock Health, a new patient visit is around 60 minutes,\u201d he said. \u201cSo, I can take that time to really learn about the patient, really learn that <em>person<\/em>, and understand and make sure that I\u2019m doing what I\u2019m supposed to be doing to ensure this person is the healthiest they can possibly be. So, I think Hancock cares more about people as a healthcare model.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Shah said his days are spent seeing complex patients with multiple ailments. He\u2019s particularly passionate about addressing his patients\u2019 lifestyle management\u2014through nutrition and exercise\u2014that impacts their overall health. He tries to make sure his approach to care is always centered on the patient.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy patients should be as invested in their care as I am, and I try to encourage that through education and understanding of their disease processes and what my decision-making process is,\u201d said Dr. Shah. \u201cAt the end of the day, it\u2019s their body. It\u2019s their decision. So, if they\u2019re well educated on why I\u2019m recommending certain things, then it makes it better for them overall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prior to working at Hancock Health, Dr. Shah worked in internal medicine at Community Hospital in Munster. So, his daily commute to Greenfield is actually a much easier drive from his home in Fishers with his wife and six-month-old son.<\/p>\n<p>When he\u2019s not working or caring for his newborn son, Dr. Shah said he and his wife love to get outside and explore. \u201cWe like going out in nature, hiking, trails, and all that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Are you looking for a physician with an eye on the whole patient who will take the time to get a deep understanding of the health issues you\u2019re facing?
