En 1993, recibi\u00f3 su maestr\u00eda en la Escuela de Enfermer\u00eda de la Universidad de Indiana. Despu\u00e9s de la universidad, Kim regres\u00f3 a su ciudad natal en el condado rural de Rush, donde viven ella y su esposo, John.
