Se le confiri\u00f3 el t\u00edtulo de Doctor en Medicina en 2001. Luego, el Dr. Heise realiz\u00f3 una pasant\u00eda y residencia en Cirug\u00eda General en la Universidad Estatal de Michigan y complet\u00f3 su formaci\u00f3n como Jefe de Residentes de Cirug\u00eda General. El Dr. Heise tambi\u00e9n dirige el Centro de Degluci\u00f3n y Acidez del Hospital Regional Hancock y es uno de los pocos cirujanos capacitados en Indiana que ofrece el procedimiento TIF para tratar el reflujo \u00e1cido.
