Asisti\u00f3 a la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Indiana, donde obtuvo su t\u00edtulo de m\u00e9dico en 1990. Complet\u00f3 su residencia en medicina interna en el Hospital Metodista de Indian\u00e1polis en 1993. Tambi\u00e9n complet\u00f3 su residencia en medicina interna en el Hospital Metodista de Indian\u00e1polis en 1993. su beca en el Hospital Metodista en medicina pulmonar y de cuidados cr\u00edticos en 1996.
