A new center designed to connect education, workforce development and industry has opened in Hancock County, and Hancock Health is helping bring healthcare career pathways to life within the facility.
Amplify Hancock Innovation Center is a $48 million, 106,000-square-foot education and training facility that brings career and technical education, higher education, workforce development and industry collaboration together under one roof. Located near Interstate 70, the center will serve high school students, adult learners, employers and community partners throughout Hancock County. High school classes begin Aug. 6, with adult learning opportunities starting this fall.
CREATING OPPORTUNITY CLOSE TO HOME
Amplify Hancock includes the Hancock County Career Center, known as HC3, which serves students from Eastern Hancock Schools, Greenfield-Central Community Schools, Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation and Southern Hancock Community School Corporation.
HC3 offers 12 programs in high-demand fields, including health sciences, construction, advanced manufacturing, transportation, distribution and logistics, and law and public safety. Students can earn dual credit, complete industry-recognized certifications and gain practical experience that prepares them for employment or continued education.
The center also offers space for higher education, short-term workforce training, employer-specific programs, laboratories and future business needs. By bringing educators, employers and community organizations together, Amplify Hancock is designed to help address workforce shortages while making career training more accessible.
HANCOCK HEALTH’S ROLE AT AMPLIFY
Hancock Health has dedicated space within Amplify Hancock for two established workforce programs: its School of Radiologic Technology y Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Training Program.
Both programs prepare students for important patient-care roles and help strengthen the pipeline of skilled healthcare professionals serving Hancock County and East Central Indiana.
Hancock Salud School of Radiologic Technology prepares students to become radiographers who perform diagnostic imaging procedures and help providers identify injuries and illnesses. The full-time, 23-month program combines classroom instruction with clinical experience. Students learn about patient care, imaging principles, radiographic procedures, radiation protection, ethics and clinical image analysis.
Graduates receive an Associate of Applied Science degree through Ivy Tech Community College and are eligible to take the national certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
El Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Training Program prepares participants to support patient care and medical office operations. Medical assistants may take vital signs and patient histories, prepare patients for examinations, collect specimens, draw blood, assist providers and help coordinate appointments and referrals.
The program includes four months of training followed by a six-week externship. Participants gain experience in settings such as family medicine, pediatrics, OB-GYN, immediate care and specialty practices. Coursework includes anatomy, medical terminology, laboratory procedures, pharmacology, billing and coding, professional communication and career development.
