Time to work on that relationship. All vegetables are more lovable when prepared with the right skills and imagination. And it\u2019s never been easier to learn interesting ways to prepare such classic holiday veggies as <a href=\"https:\/\/happyhealthymama.com\/green-bean-recipes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">green beans,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.self.com\/gallery\/delicious-spinach-recipes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">spinach,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.health.com\/health\/gallery\/0,,20600272,00.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sweet potatoes,<\/a> Und <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ambitiouskitchen.com\/brussels-sprouts-recipes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Brussels sprouts.<\/a> Just a few minutes\u2019 research can pay off with great flavors.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-paragraph core-paragraph\">\n<p>Also, try eating all your vegetables first. Now that it\u2019s here, don\u2019t rush it. Before digging in, take a moment to appreciate the aspects of the food that don\u2019t involve getting it into your belly. Appreciate how good it looks and how good it smells. Take the time to compliment the cooks. <\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-paragraph core-paragraph\">\n<p>And even after you lift your fork, take the time to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.self.com\/story\/mindful-eating-experiment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">truly experience <\/a>what you\u2019re doing. Chew slowly and completely, and put your utensils down between bites. Engage in the conversation. Drink some water. As you progress through the meal, ask yourself: \u201cAm I still enjoying this?\u201d If the answer is no, or even a weak \u201csort of,\u201d take a break for a while. You can always go back for leftovers.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-heading core-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alternate Between Alcohol and Water<\/h4>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-paragraph core-paragraph\">\n<p>If alcohol is part of your merry gatherings, proceed mindfully. The empty calories add up fast, and of course overindulging can make a good time miserable in a hurry. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/healthy-lifestyle\/nutrition-and-healthy-eating\/in-depth\/alcohol-during-holidays\/art-20270845\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Feel better throughout your celebration,<\/a> and after, by having water between drinks and by limiting your overall alcohol consumption to just a few drinks.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-heading core-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don\u2019t Skip Meals<\/h4>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-paragraph core-paragraph\">\n<p>You may be tempted to skip breakfast or lunch, expecting to overindulge at the big celebratory meal. This strategy tends to lead to overeating at the big meal, so make sure you have all your healthy smaller meals of the day, as well as a healthy snack before the big event. Don\u2019t skip the vegetables. But balance all that you eat with the foods you really, really enjoy. Like skipping meals, denying yourself those foods that you love will only lead to overindulgence in the future. Just make sure you savor each bite of your favorites, so that you won\u2019t be tempted to overdo it.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-paragraph core-paragraph\">\n<p>The same goes for dessert. Most holiday meals feature not just one, but several favorites. If you get that familiar twinge of \u201cThis is my one chance all year to try all of Aunt Bea\u2019s and Uncle Dee\u2019s special pies\/cakes\/puddings\/etcetera,\u201d go ahead. Just limit yourself to a very small portion of each. And make every bite count.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-heading core-heading\">\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Walk It Off<\/h4>\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress- core-\">\n\n<\/div><div class=\"container mx-auto   wordpress-block wordpress-paragraph core-paragraph\">\n<p>After the eating is done, finish up with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hancockhealth.org\/de\/2020\/02\/get-outside-to-improve-your-mood-this-winter\/\">a brisk outdoor walk<\/a> or other exercise with family and friends. This will kick-start your digestion, burn off a few extra calories, and help get your mind off food.
