Sie studierte an der Indiana University School of Medicine, wo sie 1989 ihren medizinischen Abschluss machte. Nach dem Medizinstudium absolvierte Dr. Wean ihre Facharztausbildung am Methodist Hospital. Von 1991 bis 1992 war sie Ober\u00e4rztin.
